Right now my setup is small, but I could record DJ set with microphone and some of my gadgets. Here is an explanation, so I can setup next time easier:
- DDJ-FLX4
- Bastl instruments DUDE mixer. POWERED WITH BATTERIES
- Behringer U-phopria UM2 audio interface. Mono recording
- Microphone XM8500
- Microphone preamplifier Tube ultragain MIC300
- Speakers at home
The connections are:
- Inputs of the mixer: The microphone preamp, the sampler, the dj set
- Output of the mixer to Instrument audio input of the Audio interface.
- Direct monitor of audio interface to speakers
- Audio headphones to the computer, use this to check the output level
The steps are the next:
- Connect everything.
- Gain of Audio interface instr gain 2, keep it low.
- Gain of FLX4 keep it high.
- Dude gain keep it to the middle
- Use Quicktime player to record the audio. You are gonna record in stereo and in postprocessing, take the mono input. You can configure to listen in realtime
- Setup all the devices so they have similar gain. Keep gain of audio interface low, it introduce noise
- To record in the computer use Quicktime player.
