20210103 - Consejos para hacer el writing de TOEFL

Para practicar el writing he encontrado un foro que la gente envia writings y los corrigen

En esta web se pueden encontrar muchísimos writtings para practicar.

Dentro de poco tengo que hacer el examen de inglés del toefl y creo que donde voy más justo es en el writing. El writing de TOEFL se compone de dos partes:

Writing Based on Reading and Listening

  • Clearly presents main points
  • Contrasts lecture and reading points
  • Few grammatical/spelling errors

Estructura

La estructura de un Integrated writting podría ser la siguiente:

Párrafo de introducción

The lecturer talks abour… He says that.…

The lecture and reading both discuss the television appearences of university professors. While the reading claims that the appearence of a professor is beneficial to both the professor and the society, the lecture contradicts it by saying that we should question such claim by dismissing each point made in the reading.

This piece of writing will summarize how the points that the writer discusses are challenged/supported by the speaker.

Argumentos | Un párrafo por argumento

There is one paragraph for each point, and the point is clearly stated within the first sentence of the paragraph followed by specific details from the lecture. This organization makes it easy to follow the writer’s thinking and see that they understood the lecture. Additionally, the essay clearly contrasts points made in the lecture with points made in the reading. Using words and phrases such as “however” and “this directly contradicts.”

The writer first claims that.…

The speaker states that.…

He/she goes on to state that.…

This is one way the lecture challenges/supports the reading.

The writer next says that…

The speaker argues that.…

He/she continues by arguing that…

This is another way that the lecture casts doubt/corroborates the reading.

The writer then asserts that…

The speaker makes the point that.…

He/she then points out that…

This is the final way that the lecture contradicts/affirms the reading.

First of all, the reading states that.… The lecture however refutes this by..…

The reading argues that.… On the other hand, the lecture refutes this arguments by….

First,.… In other words.… This directly contradicts what the passage indicates.

Secondly.… The passage says.… However, the speaker talks.… This was another part where experience contradicted theory.

Estructura

The writer’s position is clear within the first few sentences, and the rest of the essay elaborates on that position. Each paragraph begins with a new major point that is then explained. This logical flow of ideas is easy for readers to follow and shows that the writer knows how to set up a clear argument.

Very vey important to use exampes.

On the whole, however, it is my opinion that..… is preferable.
